Voltage Regulator

Hello guys,

Wondering if you could help me before I do something bad. I am replacing voltage regulators on a 1994 Mercury XRi 2.5L 175 hp. I ordered reg's from CDI part # 194-5279 (2 each) When i go to replace them, the top regulator is part number 815279-3, 5 wire. The top one is part number 892115-001, 6wire. The extra wire goes to a ground. All the info i can find says the new regulator will replace the 815279 but I can't find anything on the 892115-001. Could this have been the wrong regulator for this motor or is the new one I bought (194-5279) the wrong one? I have everything connected but I have not put any voltage to it yet. Anyone familiar with this? Thanks for your help.

815279 is a good number. They are both tha same (top and bottom). Like you, no idea 'bout tha other number.........

Just an upgraded design that will work on yours.

T.C., I bought from above, these are spec'd and will work for you as well......Mine have ran perfectly now for two season.....save some bucks, same upgraded design, probably same manu as well just no middle men and price creeps.

or.........this guy wasn't around back when I needed new ones or I would have went here

Heck, buy a third as a glove box spare and still be at about the cost of one from those other guys. One (1) Year Warranty and Freeeee shipping too! Gotta love Amazon!!

Ahhhhhhhhh, saw your recommendation and just followed your lead. Too bad, perhaps the next guy that reads this eh? Or return them over priced things, un-opened of course.....J/K :facepalm:

Thanks anyway, I will put link in my fav's. This is an old boat and will probably need some more stuff. I need an oil cap and float now. Dang buzzer has finally went out.

Np and GL, my raft has a buzzer at the helm but, I added this to the motor, sorta cheap redundancy and extra insurance all at the same time ..........works like a cheap made in China charm.
