1985 75ELPT Mercury outboard

Is this model known for its reliability and sturdiness. I have some fuel issues on a model I purchased. I want to know its history before proceeding with further repairs.

Merc is said to be #1 in the world and reliability is one of the reasons. I have one and agree. That engine is 29 years old! Expect to have to replace items. Parts are readily available on site and many other places in addition to an authorized dealer.

That is a great motor if the price is right, but it is pretty old. I would do a compression test and see it run before I bought it. Personally I would try to find a little newer model like 90's or newer. My 2c
