I bought my 9.8 Merc ser # 3363773 new in 1972 and I'm trying to get it back in the water. All ignition wires were rotted and in my haste to replace them I lost track of exactly where they went. A local repair shop says that the neg (-) side of both coils go one each to the points and the pos (+) side of the coils connect together on the stator plate along with the condenser. It is a phase maker system and must be grounded to run but it has not fired as yet. I have ordered replacement insulator blocks for the points and I cleaned and reset the points to .020. Not much fire from the plugs when I pull the rope and grounded the plug. The coils were both replaced 8-10 yrs ago. Other suggestions?
