Does anyone know how I can test a Trigger Assembly on a 1967 Mercury 50HP Outboard? I recently purchased this motor and it appears to be in good condition other than the fact that the Distributor Cap and Rotor have been broken. Before I invest the money in those I would like to make sure that the trigger assembly is good. I have checked on replacement cost of this item and it exceeds $200, far more than I paid for the motor. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Have you checked the parts list for your motor ?---Do you have an external coil ?--------Serial # of your motor ?----Not uncommon for folks to break those parts. And yes they are big $$$

Ayuh,.... I'd think a 1967 is fired by Points,.... If not points, then by a Magneto,...
