I have a 1965 20hp sterndrive that I am rebuilding. Can someone help me with the proper ratio of oil to gas in this motor. Also, is there a preferred type of oil to use? Thank you in advance.

Ayuh,.... Welcome Aboard,.... ya mean 20hp, Outboard,..??

Sterndrives are used with I/O motors,...

Anyways, a Quart of oil in 6 gallons of gas will get ya runnin',... 2 stroke outboard oil,...

The correct ratio is 50:1, or 1 pint of oil to 6 gallons of 87 octane gasoline. Use any TWC-3 rated 2 stroke oil. If you use ethanol enhanced fuel, keep an eye out for possible fuel line deterioration- ethanol can be erosive to some types of fuel lines. You may want to install a clear fuel filter- if the filter loads up with black stuff, it's time to replace the fuel lines.

Thanks guys...this is my first rebuild so I will probably have some more questions as problems arise. I appreciate the help.
