1973 20hp 200 merc do not have serial at this time.
Anyone know how I remove the shift linkage? I have it all unbolted but it doesnt move far after that. I have to replace item five in the illustation you see in the link:
Mercury, Mercruiser, Force, etc. - SHIFT CONTROL LINKAGE - MERC 20
but I cant figure out how to get out. I have removed the pull starter, the carb, the bolts from the linkage itself and it moves about a have inch towards switch handle but I can not figure out how to get out. The reason I am doing this is because someone used vice grips on the shifter an eroded away the meat of where the handle shifter went.
