I have a Mercury Tracker 1994 Pro Series 40 hp outboard serial number 0G085553. I am looking for a rubber boot that fits over the top of the main drive shaft. I have replaced the water pump impellor and need this rubber boot to reinstall the lower unit. In the Mercury manual this is listed as part #32.

I'm not an outboard expert and have looked up your S/N but I have not been able to find the boot at Merc. What is the part number?

Re: Rubber driveshaft boot

It would be item number 32 in the link below but in the service manual page 6A-26 says - Outboard serial number 0C295675 and above will not have a seal on the drive shaft due to improved lower end cap design.

http://www.mercruiserparts.com/Show...543&bnbr=200&bdesc=GEAR+HOUSING+(DRIVE+SHAFT)

Also you will find it is no longer available and it says in the notes to see service bulletin #90-15 which is not available online to read. There is only a header index that is available online that can be found inside the next link. http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=...j4GYDA&usg=AFQjCNFzvSoyoQjAKbEG34CLipYqDnTyKA

Hope this helps, Good luck.:)

Re: Rubber driveshaft boot

Fun Times,
I have found the same information in the service manual as well as the #90-15 service bulletin that is not available. I was hoping someone would tell me this part is not really needed or the source for the replacement parts for the new and improved design.

If you have the old style lower unit(small impeller) it uses the 2 parts 88868a1 and 86304.......
