97 mariner 25 hp motor fast idle wire connection

I need help big time. Engine was running great all day, but as i was coming back to the ramp i put the engine in nuetrual and i noticed it was idling high. I took the cowl off and noticed the fast idle wire was connected to the fast idle lever but not connected to anything in the back. Im sure this is most likely the cause of this.

lube the linkage, the fast idle is actually a throttle linkage position that opens the car b up a bit and is not electrical device. What your most likely looking at is the electric choke or the enrichment valve.,

Thanks for the fast reply. I didn't mean that its not connected electrically. I meant the metal wire isn't connected to anything at all.

If your talking about some of the linkage I would suggest you get a parts manual.
