Can I use a lower unit from a 1997 Force 120 on a 2001 Mercury 125 with both being 25"? If yes, are there any drawbacks or potential problems (i.e. different gear ratio, different propeller)? Thanks in advanced.
Yes it will bolt up but no it will not work as the 97 is a 3 jaw and the 01 is a 6 jaw. The only way to make it work would be to change the shift rod and linkage back to the 97 style.....
