1978 115 hp merc o/b speedometer cable

Is the cable from the boat console to the engine lower unit a 2 piece cable? It looks like it might be , but how do they come apart so I can remove the motor from the transom?

See the LU hose as item 1A in this link:

Here is a picture of the hose assy and the connection to separate it should be just where it comes out of the LU.

Gerry you are correct, they do just pull from each other. a little heat from a lighter loosen up the insulation. thank you
