PLEASE HELP..!!!! 1969 mercury outboard, 7.5 hp cooling

i need some help with my outboard.
i install a new empeller and put everything back same way i pull all out before.
when start the motor w?ter dont come out from the hole in the side, just hot air .
any idea what is the problem?
is this type of outboard have a thermostat that i dont known about it ? maybe inside the motor?

No stat. Best guess is that you didn't get the copper water pipe coming from the top of the water pump stabbed in the bottom of the block. Kinda tricky but has to be done. Pipe should have a slight bend to line up, but no big bends or kinks which would indicate you missed and forced it together anyway.

You said just like before.....did you ensure that the crankshaft would turn the impeller when you put the water pump cover back? In short, did you install the drive pin in the groove on the DS that engages the impeller and turns it?
