Hi can anyone assist or have had a similar experience. Please let me have your solution?.
I have a 50hp brown stripe 4 cylinder (approx year 1984) which has recently given fault:
1.engiine difficult to start
2.engine runs OK on idle (firing on the two top cylinders? is this correct?)
3:engine will run on full throttle out of water with hose pick up connected OK
4:Engine bogs down under load in water when accelerating? (Engine tone changes)
5:The spark plugs and HT leads including caps are proven OK
6:Stator has been replaced. (No change in problem)
7:pick up/trigger unit replaced.(No change in problem)
8:Change ignition module/swiitch unit. ( this caused the firing order to change to bottom two cylinders on idle and rougher running)
9: Reverted back to original ignition module/swiitch unit. problem returned to bogging down underload?
Thanks Gary W:)
