Engine was not starting, I cleaned carb and replaced diaphragms in pump, still not starting, so I pulled the reed block and found gasket damage. New gasket now, but before reassembly, a question about a rubber seal on the reed block. The seal fits in a groove around the Vee of the block. When the reed assembly is pushed into its home, the seal presses against the engine block to make an airtight separation between the portions of the crankcase that feed the two cylinders. The seal seems "tight enough" and does not show damage, but "tight enough" is a judgment call. Question is, should I replace this seal as a routine matter?
