2000 Mercury 9.9 carburator Float Orientation?

Hi,

I have a 2000 Mercury 9.9 2 stroke outboard motor (serial #0t137404). I took the carb. apart to clean it. when I put it back together, I forget which side the float goes it. I attached two pictures, Can someone please tell me which one is correct? TIA.

Hard to tell, but based on page 3A-21 of the service manual, the first picture appears to be correct. But it's only a guess. The float level measurement should get you in the correct position though. Good luck.

Thanks Fun Times. Put the carb back together as the 1st picture. Seems to work fine.
Just out of curiosity, I took it apart again the flipped the float around as the 2nd picture. It also works.
