I have an 1988 Mercury 70 motor. The current ignition has 8 wires. It is a push to choke switch. All the new ignitions I am seeing online are 6 wire? Does anyone know a place I can go to get the same type ignition with the correct number of wires? The motor is on a Bass Buggy from Tracker Marine.
Thanx

Did you try iboats. I just bought a Commander 2000 remote from them with an 8 pin control cable:

Pins:
1. Black/yellow stripe, grounds trigger module and shuts down engine
2. Purple is 12v applied by the ignition switch being ON or START
3. Tan/Lt. Blue stripe, OT or oil warning
4. Black, battery -....ground
5. Grey tach signal
6. Yellow/Black stripe, fuel enrichment solenoid energizer (aka choke function)
7. Yellow/Red stripe, Starter solenoid energizing voltage
8. Red/Purple stripe fused 12v from engine 20 amp fuse

Maybe they have the ign switch to go with it or go to Merc Marine.
