I just put a Mercury 150 XR2 (1985) on to replace my 1990 Force 90. The Merc did not come with the steering link arm, but I still have the one from the Force. Will the Force one work/is this a universal part, or do I need to find one for the Merc? Anyone know a part number by chance or even the technical name for the part? I am refering to the arm that attached from the steering cable to the outboard. Thanks.

Will.

If you are discussing the rod that connects the steering arm of the motor to the steering cable, it is universal. However, they come in different lengths and some are adjustable. So set the steering wheel to the center of it's travel and see if the motor is sraight.
