How often should a Mercury 60 Bigfoot be flushed when used in salt water?

How often should a Mercury 60 Bigfoot engine be hooked up to a fresh water rinse when used in a salt water bay? It's a little bit of an inconvenience, but I don't want to do I (or omit) anything to jeopardize the function and life of the motor.

Truthfully? Every time you use the motor in salt water, flush the motor. Just slap on the muffs and let the motor run while you are cleaning up the boat. The routine will pay dividends.
