Hi everybody! Sorry on my bad english...
Last summer I bought used Mercury 25 HP BigFoot FourStroke (2005). It was end of summer so I didnt done small service. (oil & filter)
Today, my friend and I changed motor oil and filter, and gearcase oil. We found this part (on picture), under the engine, laying down.
Can anybody tell me what is it and where it fits?
Motor worked just fine last summer, I didnt noticed any problems...

Sure looks like a temperature sender. Do you have a engine temp gauge?

Also, I don't think it came with the motor. Someone added it. Look for an open threaded hole.

The seller may have removed it and plugged the hole then left it in the cowl by accident.

If the hole isn't plugged you will know pretty fast, as water will be coming out of the block.

The 1058 number looks to be a temp sender used by Faria gauges.

I would guess it was a previous abortive attempt to fit an engine temperature gauge. The sensor wouldn't fit, got dropped, then forgot about....................

Thanks a lot guys!!!
Yes it is some kind of water temperature sensor. In the boat there is a engine temp gauge but it is not functional....
With your helpful information I found it on internet -

Cummins Generator 0-10v | Water Temperature Sensor - Buy Water Temperature Sensor,Liquid Temperature Sensor,Generator Set Temperature Sensor Product on Alibaba.com

There is no water coming form the block. I tried to find a hole, but unsuccessfully, so I guess there is no hole for it.

Thanks once more!
