Mercury Fuel Octane Recommendations

Ok, totally confused here. One page says use 91 minimum octane fuel;

Mercury Marine



Another page says 87 minimum octane fuel:

The first site is for Mercury Australia, the 2nd is Mercury Marine U.S., and I'd imagine that Down Under the octane of their petrol is calculated a bit differently.

Most 2-strokes, unless they're a High Performance model or being raced, will run fine on 87 octane regular unleaded. Better if it's non-ethanol-fuel but hard to find nowadays. The old 99-c.i. Towers of Power really like a nice dose of 100/LL Avgas!

At any rate, if you're looking for a recommendation for a specific motor, we'd need to know what make/model.

In the manual I have it says for Tower of Power motors:
Minimum octane of 86?
If you have EFI, minimum octane of 87?

(I think seloc manual?)

K, thanks. Didn't see the Australia thing.

Been using 87 forever and will keep doing so.
