mercury twin outboard control 88688A22 or 8M0041426

Does anyone know the difference between a mercury 8688A22 remote control and a mercury 8M0041426 control?
I want to replace my existing control and find both of these when I search the web. This will be for a twin outboard using Gen II cables.
