Hey I have a Mariner 135 I usually run 91 octane in it and it runs well. 91 octane is hard to find in my area and it is becoming inconvenient to use. Can anyone recommend another octane that will be okay to run and will not cause me any problems ? Thanks

I run my 135 with 89 octane and sea foam. I believe the book says you need a minimum of 85 octane.

Buy the cheapest gas they sell at the gas station for your 135. Its a low compression motor. 91 is overkill and doesn't make it run better. If anything, burning slower burning ( higher octane ) gas in a motor that does not need it will make it run worse.

If you store it over the winter with gas in it make sure to use some stabil or fill that last tank full with non ethanol gas.

The higher the octane, "the slower the burn",........ When the stroke is 1.5", a faster burn without knocking would be advantageous....

I loose 2 knots with 89 octane vs. 87.

Drop down to "Regular" gas....it should be OK. Use good quality outboard oil. Additives not necessary, including Seafoam.

Thanks guys ran 89 on Sunday and it ran great. 89 is much more available than 91 so it is a "Win-Win"
