I have a 2006 Mercury 90 HP 2-stroke. When I crank it up, it runs really rough and gasoline runs out of a hole on the side of the top carburetor (see red arrow on attached picture).carb..jpg

Any help on the possible causes and solution to the problem would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for the reply MI Duckdown. When you say "bump", does that mean to bump or tap on the carb. Are you thinking that the float is stuck and that bumping on the carb will unstick it?

Do you have a matching threaded hole in the lower carb?

in this carb diagram, there should be a a vent jet in that hole. Item #20. Other than that, I don't know. Mercury Marine 90 HP (3 CYL.) CARBURETOR Parts.

This may or not be your carb, I just picked the first parts diagram for 90 HP, 3 cylinder.

That hole is a vent for the float bowl, if fuel is coming out it means the float needle isn't seating.
