What year is this Mercury 70hp?

Ive been doing my usual "bottom feeding" and found a 70hp Merc in super shape for $125 bucks.....I couldn't pass it up.

Model number is 6163035

I'm thinking maybe 1983.

If this is correct....I need to figure out what controls are compatible with it.

I need controls for the motor. Is there a certain kind/years I should be looking for? This is my first Merc, so I'm clueless as what the controls even look like.

My controld form a similar vintage 40HP, work on my 85 HP so "most" controls sets from that era will work. Just recently Ive learned that there are a few oddities. It comes down to pin count on the connector for the electrics.

Do the controls have to have a single lever...or will a two lever control box work?

My 1983 70HP Blue Band is a single lever with a push key electric choke. Trim switches are lever mounted.

The second lever is simply a limited throttle advance so you can give it some throttle, without putting it in grear. Hardly a requirement but sure nice to have.

Trim on the lever would be nice too!!!
