Trim tab(shark fin looking)

i have a 1988 80hp 3 cyl. 2 stroke oil injected mercury the trim table cracked from being to tight or just old. how important is this. got a fishing turnament sat. dont know if the trim tab(shark fin looking) is common in boat shops in neraska.

Go ahead and fish.It is basically for small steering torque adjustment and a place for stray electric to attack vs the aluminum while your docked.

As said, its just for combating steering torque. Many new motors don't even have them installed from the factory anymore with all the no feedback steering systems out there.
