How do I hook up Tach to 4-cyl 75 hp Mariner/Merc?

I have just repowered with a 1986ish Mariner 75 4-cyl. Engine runs great, but I'd like to hook up my old tach. The new control box has a round wire plug with 5 pins and a plug-in wire that is brown. The wires to the 5 pins are purple, blue/white, black, black/white and grey. The tach has IGN, SEND.,J/E, GND., LT. Do I have to buy a connector with a round female plug to go to the tach.? Not so good at electrical - any help would be appreciated, Thanks

you want purple (+12VDC), Black (ground) and grey (stator signal) to the tachometer.
