Unknown brass fitting and hose on lower unit

I have a brass fitting and hose that comes off the back of my lower unit and have no idea what its for or where it goes. I am having many problems with my motor its a 90hp and 1989 Mariner. Any help to explain what this hose is for or where it goes would be great. Thanks!

If the Mariner is the one you refer to in your previous posts, the s/n comes up as:

MARINER - ( 75 H.P. (1989 ))
Serial No: 0C134832 Model No: 7075412PD

Parts list for model 7075412PD:

70/75/80/90 HP (3 CYLINDER) - Mercury, Mercruiser, Force, etc. Parts Lookup

You say it comes off the back of the LU but are you sure it is not the front, seen as item 9 under Drive Shaft Housing?
