Hello,
I have a 1978 Mercury 800 that likes to run inconsistently. Carbs are rebuilt, DVA readings are ~300V for the Stator check and 2V for the trigget check. With trigger wires removed from switch box the readings went down to 1V
I marked the flywheel and checked all cylinders with a timing light. Cylinders #1 and #2 are consistently firing at the same time (with #1 firing correctly) and #3 and #4 are firing properly. However, at times it seemd like all cylinders were firing a little out of wack. With the DVA reading of 2V at idle indicate that this is most likely a trigger problem, or could it possibly be the switch box?
Thanks,
Keith
