Mercury 9.9 4 stroke oil pressure question

I have a 2010 9.9 on my West Marine inflatable and have a question for anyone with a late model Mercury. How long does the oil pressure light take to go off after starting? Mine takes 3-5 seconds, and this weekend I counted to 8 before it went out. A call to Mercury Marine says this is perfectly normal, but wanted to get some input from like engine owners.

My 9.9 bigfoot kicker was (@$Y to start before I finally figured out a system. My oil pressure light would go off long before it started (electric start). Since i've figured out a new starting combo, I really haven't paid attention to the light but will check next time I'm out. I'm sure I would have noticed 8 seconds though. More like 2-3

my 15hp of the same year is similar to yours so no need to get too concerned.if it stays on it will limit revs to 2150 so then you know theres a problem.

8 seconds is a long time at 1500 rpm, that is where I start my 05 15hp electric. I would send a email to mercury support and ask them. Then you have a paper trail to support any future issue. My light goes out in 2 to 3 seconds. Good Luck!

I tried to email them but it kept rejecting the engine SN as incorrect. I called and she said she asked a technical specialist and he said it sounds normal. I would like to have that in writing though. Thanks for the replies.
