1973 mercury 1150 stator

Ok, so one wire of the two wire stator is working (putting out voltage) but the other side is not :( the wires are broken off just about flush with the stator, so iv attempted repair multiple times. What would happen if someone were to bridge the two sides, so that one wire is supplying the voltage????

That won't work but sometimes you can go to the coil the old wire was connected to and unwind a turn of wire to get to good wire for a solder joint then reseal the winding with epoxy

I'd try that but it is all encased in plastic or something. So I don't know how to get that plastic out of the way without destroying the windings.
