Problem finding internal engine harness for 1968 50 HP Mercury

New to the forum and my neighbor has a 68, 50 HP Mercury. I am trying to help him find an internal engine harness because the guy he took the boat to for repair insists that he cannot find the part. Why would a 68 harness be so hard to find? I have a part number but I would need the engine model and serial number to be certain. I assume it is model 500.

Any suggestions? Thanks

Go to the CDI site and you should be able to cross the OEM number to their number

Lot of money for what it is, yet I'm shocked that a 1968 harness is still available. My 1977 harness is looking bad too, I might be right be in the market for one soon too.
