2.5HP Mercury 4-stroke not shifting into Forward

I dragged limestone bottom with the lower unit of my 2.5hp Mercury 4-stroke today while going about 5mph. When it hit, I immediately put the engine in neutral and trimmed up enough to drift back into deeper water. The motor never stalled. When I shifted back into Forward, the prop did not engage. I think I hear a faint 'click' when shifting from N to F but no power. The motor does not have reverse and has a plastic prop.

Anyone have advice on where to start with troubleshooting?

my sugestion is to take out prop,
and look if shaft is turning when you are in forward gear
in not gear case needs to be reasembled

Were you able to get your motor running?
Same thing happened to me, hit an underwater log at 5mph motor didn't die just had no more forward
