just bought ranger boat has not ran in 6 yrs motor fires up and runs but cylinder 1&3 do not fire changed coil pacs still nothing was told to check stator does any one know how to check stator they tell me there is a certain way or sequence to do this or any other ideas motor is 198 merc 150xr2 black maxx thanks for any info

Go to the CDI electronics website and they have a section on trouble shooting ignition problems .With the engine off you can check resistance readings given in the trouble shooting charts . For reading voltages with the engine running you will need a "DVA " voltmeter (or DVA adapter if you already have a mutimeter )

Thanks for the info a lot of good info on that site will give it a try tomorrow if I can sneak out since its Easter
