Primer Bulb

Just replaced the fuel line om my 03 40horse 4cilinder 4 stroke EFI did I mention Mercury outboard. So
the primer bulb did not get hard after considerable pumping, but there was fuel in the line and the
motor ran fine with the muffs on. Am I missing something? This is my first 4 stroke. Thanks, old jim

You will need to run the engine enough for the inlet needle to open so the air in the line from changing the primer bulb to be expelled from the line then it should get hard, if it don't you have a bad primer bulb.
