Couple days ago i picked up a great deal from my uncle a 1985 skeeter strada f-80 with a 1985 merc 50hp for hundred bucks. So today i go outside to see if the motor is frozen and it's not i thought it was going to be after sitting for 13 years so after that i hooked up the battery and it turns over but now i'm not getting spark. I disconnected the tilt kill switch and nothing and now i can't find the key kill switch i'm at a lost now

i did 1 and 2 but don't have a tester at the moment got to go get one. I notice that one of the ignition trigger wires was bare and all rotted so i tried to cut the bad off but it goes all the way to the ignition trigger so i left like 2 inches of the bad wire and added new would that cause the problem i am having and should i just buy a new ignition trigger

No it should not as the trigger contains 2 seperate windings and if 1 goes bad you would lose spark on 2 cyls. If you lose spark on all 4 and the black/yellow kill wire is disconnected from the switch box, either the capacitor in the box is shorted or the stator is bad. Don't throw parts at it test the componets as they are quite costly.

The stator was replaced right before it sat for 13 years

OK, don't test it, just throw money at it.

Still going to test it, just saying the stator was new but it sat for 13 years.

I know that this is an old thread but I have a 1980 500 all of a sudden lost spark to all cylinders. I did the above test, on the stator wires I have 9500 ohms on blue/white and blue. And 70 ohms on the red/white and red wires would this cause a no spark issue?
