I am replacing my throttle and shifter cables on my 1973 mercury 850 and I see how they come apart at the control box but at the motor I am not sure. I see the quick release cam lock but when I unlatch it, it will not open far enough to get the first cable out much less the shifter which is even further down. Does that comple assembly come out some how. And if so what is the best way to go about it. And is there any unforeseen problems I could have that anyone could share with me.
