1979 mercury 1150 distributer issues

1979 mercury 1150 distributer sticking needs greese starting to seize is this a common problem.Losing power throtle not engageing all the way lack of grease its not getting full acelloration.Other than that motor runs great,Question being what grease to use here,is this common problem.Dont really want to pull distributor if I dont have too,is there an easer way or any tricks there are hydralic nipples there to grease not sure if they will grease 100% thanks.

Ayuh,... Welcome Aboard,.... Unless ya Try to grease it, We'll never know,....

It ain't common, if it's been regularly greased,...

There should be 2 zerc grease fittings on the distributor casing. Grease 'em up, with any grease you have.

Those fittings do not grease the drive shaft, just the bushings in the housing so it can rotate when the timing is advanced/retarded. The distributor drive shaft has sealed bearings. They must be replaced, as stated before in other threads, do not remove the rotor from the shaft, it is permanently attached.
