Prop shaft seals removal 1995 40hp mercury

the prop shaft has two seals,,, was able to get one out OK but the next one is in deeper behind the one that was removed.. does the bearing carrier have to be removed and knock the seal out from the backside?

1995 what? 2/3 cylinder? What is the engine s/n?

post header gives some information for the engine,,, will try for serial number its 22 in carolina this AM
