Hi All out there - Im new to the forum and live in the UK.

Ive just bought a 'classic' Mercury 350 to refurb (mid to late 60's I think) Im sure I will have lots of qusetions as I come to do bits and pieces to it! But first off - does anyone know whether it is possible to retro-fit an electric start system to this motor?

Yours, Miniman

Re: Mercury 350 Electric Start

Pictures would help alot. If there is a half bracket for the starter on the intake case then it may be possible. Here is a picture of a 40 HP with a starter and the location should be approximate to where yours would go. View attachment 176236 Here is a picture of a 79 40 HP intake case as you can see it has the half bracket for a starter. View attachment 176237 This is off a 70 HP 1979 View attachment 176238 If you have that portion of the bracket then you will need a starter and the other half of the bracket for that engine. Find the part number and start seaching ebay here --->> http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_odk...0.l1313&_nkw=Mercury+starter+bracket&_sacat=0 Or this may work starter and bracket http://www.ebay.com/itm/MERCURY-FOR..._Accessories_Gear&hash=item19d70c19a4&vxp=mtr

Cheers for that - I will take a look tonight. Pretty sure mine has the bracket.
Are the parts reqd available? I see that there are starter motors on Ebay - but getting a flywheel/gear ring might be a challenge? Then I guess there's some electrics reqd.

If your flywheel doesn,t have the ring Just get a 35 HP electric start flywheel off ebay. Buying new would cost fortunes.
