2000 Mercury 200 Optimax acts like its losing fuel pressure at top end. Checked tank and fuel ball. I can idle out fine and get on a plane. Then after 5-6 minutes it starts cutting out like its not getting enough fuel. I am going to check pump in the vst. Any ideas. Thanks in advance.

Re: 2000 Mercury 200 Optimax acts like its losing fuel pressure at top end.

A small air leak allowing air to be sucked into the fuel system can cause the CST to run low at high throttle.

Test by substituting a clear hose for fuel line between the primary pump and VST. Watch for any air bubbles passing thru showing the air.

Quick disconnect fittings O-ring can fail to seal under suction of the fuel pump but hold perfectly to pressure of the primer bulb.

Just remember to remove the clear hose once finished testing and repairs as clear hose is NOT rated for fuel use and i ONLY a very short time testing tool.
