When attempting to turn my engine left under power the steering wheel slips and makes a clicking noise. When at idle or not under load the steering works fine. The steering is not hard to turn or stiff. Is there a way to fix this slippage in the control box where the cables come into the steering box under the dash?

Thanks,

CGB

Do you have rack and pinon steering, or something else? Some R&P steering systems have adjustments for meshing the R&P, but most do not.

Check for loose bolts where the cable attaches to the steering box.

I tightened the bolts on the back of the steering box behind the steering wheel and problem is fixed! Thanks for your reply.
