Mercury EFI fuel pressure

How to service a fuel pressure regulator on a 1997 225 EFI. My pressure goes from 36 psi to nothing and the pump will be running. At times it will run good by surges at time but quit while idling. I would like to eliminate every thing before buyin an expensive pump.

You may have something goin' on in tha VST. Filter on tha bottom of tha pump. Needle n seat. Could also be mech. pump. not keepin' up. Could be regulator just ta name a few things................

Thanks, I ordered a real mercury manual yesterday. The seloc manual is a waste of money.
