I am looking at purchasing a Boston Whaler Conquest with a 1999 Merc Optimax 200HP motor with about 250 hours on it. To my surprise after doing a simple google search on the motor I discovered all of the issues the Optimax had in the early 2000's. I am unable to confirm if the same issues were experienced with the 99 model as well. Were the injectors and/or powerheads a high failure item? Anything I should check on the motor besides the normal compression check of the cylinders? Owner says he has never had any problems with the motor.
