Really basic question. How do I replace the cap and rotor. I purchased the on line manual, but it has almost no detail drawings. Looks like I may need to take a lot of things off to access screws that hold on the cap.
A drawing or pics would be nice :)
Thanks

Re: 1967 Mercury Distributor

Take the 2 bolts that hold the plate that has the max spark and idle screw out remove the plate do not mess with either adjustment screw, remove the throttle cable from the arm and the dist wires for the switch box or coils which ever you have. This will let you rotate the dist so you can remove the 4 bolts that hold the dist to the mount bracket as you lower the dist check for a ground wire some models have one, if so you will need to remover the ground wire. Now with the dist free you can remover the cap or I like to take the wire out of the clamps and take the wires cap and dist of in 1 piece. Remember the wires are screwed inti the cap so the wire ends and all rubber insulators must be removed to unscrew them.
