I replaced the water pump on my 1989 Mariner 60 hp and did not note which way is up for the copper(?) tube running from the pump up to the engine. It has a bend toward one end, but seems to fit either way. Anyone know the correct way--bend closer to engine or closer to pump?

This tube needs to align with the engine side bend near the impellor housing. The impeller housing is about and inch away from the drive shaft. Place the engine side next to the drive shaft. Visually align the tube into the engine. Best way is to use thick grease on the tube and insert the tube into the engine first then guide the tube into the impeller housing as you are bring the lower unit up. Be sure to lube the gear shift shaft splines and the drive shaft splines. Good luck

Bend closer to waterpump, I believe.
