hi, am having problems with a stiff reverse gear shift on a 1978 merc 402, have checked cable function and all good there, forward no problem, but when i go to put it in reverse it is very stiff.would this be anything to do with the friction adjustment? but as i say forward is fine, and what on earth is detent? any help very gratefully received , trav x
