hi guys i have a blackmax xr2 that has wh-40 carbs. whats funny is when i went to buy rebuild kit the wh-40 was not listed under the xr2. so are these the right carbs and does anyone know what the jetting should be. mine has .080 in the bottom .048 in the top and none in the vent. thanks for any help.

Re: mercury 150 carb question

I have a Clymer service manual for 150HP motors from '94-'97. They show that the earlier motors ('94-'95) have WMH carbs and the later ones have WMV carbs. None have the model as 40. Main jet sizes ran from .066 thru .082, depending on HP and year. Sounds like you need more info on your motor or carbs Do you have a serial number?

Re: mercury 150 carb question

The WH-40 came on 135 thru 150hp motors and .080 & .048 is correct for a 1986-1988 Xr2.

Why mess with a good motor?Just rebuild with kit and needle/seat replacement.

Nope...not for WH40 carbs.

Very bad idea for a pleasure/fishing set-up....that way is similar to a race setup but never heard of themrouting back to tank, a Xri does have all the fittings routed back to VST tank and this may be what they where talking about but its no good on a carb motor...
