Hey guys

Just a quick question just wondering if there is any outboards in the mercury 30hp range that I can get more power out of? Are there any that use the same blocks as 40 or 50hp motors?
Of is it possible to fit 40hp engine covers onto a 30hp

Thanks

Re: Getting more power out of a 30hp

Your question is worded a bit oddly. What do you mean by 30 HP range. Obviously you get 30 HP from, any engine rated at 30 HP. If you need more power, the reasonable approach is to replace what you have with a larger engine. In some cases (40/50 HP for example) the differences are in carbs only and perhaps exhaust tuning) so swapping a few parts, which can be costly can result in more power. Merc uses the same three cylinder for 40, 50, and 60 HP units) for example but if you have to buy the parts new the cost can be very prohibitive. Changing the engine cover from 30 to 40 HP doesn't add HP. Your 30 HP probably shares a power head with a 25 HP if there is one so swapping parts is not an option. The 30 HP power head is not shared with a bigger motor that I'm aware of.
