I have a 1993 50 HP 2 stroke Mercury outboard with around 300 hours on it..After running well about 30 minutes the three operating cylinders drop to two. Two different Mercury mechanics have tried and claimed to fix this problem but it still happens every time....Any suggested fixes?

Hi, George.

Welcome to iboats. :)

What did the three wrenches say was the problem they "fixed"?

If you shut her off for a while and cool her down does the dead cylinder "wake up"?

Sounds to me like a hot failure in you ignition. It can only be found by making it hot enough to fail.

I would break out a hair dryer and go to work making ignition stuff hot while on the muffs.
