will not go in gear

i have a 3.5 HP Mercury on a little jon boat, My problem is, when i was on the river, i just barely bumped over a log, now when i shift it into gear, it does nothing, my throttle revs up but the prop will not spin but very slowly, in idle, what is the problem? Thank you

You either spun the prop or if it has a shear pin that is broken. Not sure what year the motor is.
