2005 mercury 150 xl constent beep

i have a 2005 mercury 150 xl after sitting for a year i pulled out the boat to get it ready for a trip went to start motor got nothing changed the wiring harness get the motor started right up but now i get a constent beep as soon as i turn the key over what does this mean?? THANKS TOMMY

Welcome to iboats!:cool:

That's an alarm for overheating and/or some other dire motor condition. Perhaps a couple of wires got switched under the cowl when you changed the harness.

how is it over heating if i dont even turn it over? nothing got switched around! the boat turns over and idels perfect water passes through and is strong pissin. what else could it be

The problem is that the alarm is sounding without there being an actual problem with the motor. This points to a wiring problem. Check the alarm wire (it may be orange) back to where it connects to the overheat sensor on the motor. Make sure it isn't frayed or pinched causing it to ground out against the motor.
